Carinthia's LIG, MIG and HIG names are easiest to understand as positions in an insulation range. They are not interchangeable colour or styling choices.
The LIG 4.0 is the lightest of the three. It makes sense as a compact insulating layer for cool conditions, active work with regular stops, or a pack where space is limited.
The MIG 4.0 adds warmth and protection for colder use. It is the middle ground for buyers who need a substantial field jacket without moving to the heaviest option.
The HIG 4.0 is the cold-weather jacket in the group. It is intended for lower activity and colder conditions, with the corresponding increase in bulk.
Think about what you will be doing while wearing the jacket. Standing, observing or working slowly creates less body heat than climbing, carrying or moving continuously. Also consider the layers underneath. A jacket that fits closely over a shirt may be too tight over a fleece, and compressed insulation loses effectiveness.
None of these models replaces a waterproof shell in sustained rain. Build the clothing system around base layer, insulation and weather protection, then choose the jacket that fills the actual gap. Check each product page for current materials, size guidance and colour availability before ordering.
